Project Manager - Landscape Architecture (3+ years experience)

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our CT team. This role is for a passionate and experienced landscape architect ready to guide significant projects and work with teams from concept through completion.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist SPMs and Principals through the full project lifecycle from initial concept through construction administration.

• Manage client communications, consultant coordination, and municipal permitting processes.

• Balance design excellence with technical rigor, budget awareness, and project deadlines.

• Represent the firm confidently in meetings, presentations, and community engagements.

• Contribute to the growth of MDLA’s studio culture and design reputation.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Professional degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution.

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience, with a proven track record.

• Strong design sensibility with deep technical knowledge in landscape systems and detailing.

• Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.

• Ability to lead multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

 

Proficiency in:

• AutoCAD

• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)

• Bluebeam

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

• Licensure is a plus, but not required.

Entry Level Landscape Architect / Designer (0-4 years experience)

Job Description: 

We are looking for an emerging professional to become an integral part of our design process  from beginning to completion. This is a role for a self-starter who is eager to learn and  contribute. Under the guidance of our experienced team, you will have the opportunity to  cultivate all the skills necessary to be a well-rounded and successful landscape architect.  

 

In this role, you will: 

• Contribute to all project phases, from initial concept and schematic design to detailed  construction documents and site administration  

• Develop graphics and 3D models to communicate design ideas  

• Collaborate directly with senior designers, architects, engineers, clients, and contractors

• Gain hands-on experience in all aspects of project management  

• Expand your horticultural knowledge and learn the craft of creating timeless, sustainable  landscapes

• Develop your design skills in a supportive and creative environment  

 

Qualifications: 

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA or MLA) 

• 0-4 years of relevant internship and/or professional experience  

• A strong design portfolio that showcases your creativity and technical skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), and Microsoft  Office  

• Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude 

• Bonus Assets: Knowledge of 3D rendering software (Rhino and Lumion), a passion for  horticulture, and/or progress toward professional licensure

Senior Landscape Architect (8+ years experience)

• Work with on staff Permit Coordinator to prepare and oversee permit submissions,  presentations to planning and zoning boards, and coordination with wetlands, CAM, and environmental agencies 

• Collaborate with in-house civil engineers and external partners, such as architects,  surveyors, attorneys, and interior designers, as needed 

• Manage project timelines and deliverables 

• Produce detailed construction documents and illustrative graphics

• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, contractors, and regulatory  bodies 

 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program

• 8+ years of professional experience in residential landscape architecture

• Must be a licensed Landscape Architect in CT and/or NY

• In-depth knowledge of permitting processes and environmental regulations in  Fairfield and Westchester Counties 

• Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with SketchUp and Lumion  

• Strong design sensibility and ability to develop cohesive concepts and site-sensitive solutions 

• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
