Summer Internship - Landscape Architecture Seasonal Worker

The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is now accepting applications for Landscape Architecture paid internship roles in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Division of Highway Design, Landscape Design Unit.
Positions are full-time, in the Newington, CT office Monday through Friday and include field work on construction sites and highway/roadway environments.
Interns will work under the supervision of licensed Landscape Architects and gain exposure to the Connecticut DOT's project development and implementation process. Computer applications used may include MicroStation, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other applications. In addition to the Landscape Design Unit staff, interns will interact with Environmental Planners, Highway and Bridge designers, and Civil Engineers.
Duties:

Preparing the landscape design components of transportation projects including development of planting designs, specifications, and construction details for contract plans

Participating in field work with the Landscape Design Unit staff

Developing CAD generated landscape plans and details

Producing visual graphics

Assisting in other project development and management tasks

We collaborate with affiliated professionals including architects, interior designers, engineers, landscape contractors and environmental consultants to design and implement a shared vision. OPPORTUNITY
The Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to gain professional experience in the realm of residential landscape architecture. This opportunity will allow you to work in a truly collaborative setting, develop interests in the multiple facets of landscape design and learn about office workings – schematic design development, client presentations, construction detailing, permitting, bidding, site visits- if it has to do with the design or installation of a project, you will be exposed to it!
As an intern you will also engage in all our office activities, including studio field trips and occasional summer socials. We work hard but like to have fun!

Richardson and Associates is looking to grow our team with individuals offering a variety of experience levels to help complement the needs of the studio.
For those with limited years of experience, we are seeking a project collaborator with a BA/BS degree in Landscape Architecture/Design (Masters degree preferred) who have strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills and are comfortable taking on a variety of tasks.
The more experienced Project-Manager level applicants should have these skills, plus a minimum of four years proven project management experience, preferably with some residential projects and have a proven track record of managing, coordinating, and collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal team members for this position.
Both positions are expected to contribute to the diversity of project types (public, private, non-profit) with which the office is involved from their inception through to their completion: this includes proposal writing, budgeting, project coordination, planning, analysis, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, bidding administration, public speaking, report writing, and permitting, as well as construction documentation and administration. Applicants should have interest in a very hands-on design process including playing an active role with clients, other team members, and contractors.
Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment involving day-to-day management of multiple projects across a wide spectrum of types, sizes, and tasks. Experience with complex residential projects is strongly preferred.
Candidates should also demonstrate a high degree of competency in areas of design and have excellent written, graphic, and technical skills. Proficiencies in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp (and/or other 3-D modeling software) is required.
This individual must be a team player, have strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills, and be comfortable managing a diversity of tasks.
