Please join ASLA Connecticut for a full-day continuing education program! Suitable for all Landscape Architects and Designers, Architects, Engineers, Landscape Contractors, and Green Industry Peers. This event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Prides Corner Farms (122 Waterman Road, Lebanon, CT). PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES

Jane Beggs-Joles (Proven Winners ColorChoice Landscape Program Development) has over twenty-five years of experience in the wholesale nursery business, and the pleasure of helping to introduce some fabulous plants to North American horticulture. One of the reasons she loves her job is that there’s always something new to learn about plants and the people who enjoy them. Jane has a B.S. in Horticulture and an M.S. in Agricultural Economics, both from Michigan State University. Jane and her husband live in beautiful West Michigan and enjoy exploring the natural wonders of their state and traveling to visit National Parks. Sometimes their college-aged daughters still join them on their adventures!

Nancy Buley is the Director of Communications with J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. is a wholesale tree growers of Boring, Oregon. Nancy has been “talking trees” for 29 years. In recognition of her tree advocacy and stewardship efforts, she was awarded the Frederick Law Olmsted Award by the Arbor Day Foundation and a 2018 Horticultural Industries Leadership Award. She was named a Lifetime Honorary Member of ASLA in 2004 and is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture, the Society of Municipal Arborists and GardenComm. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Technical Journalism and horticulture from Oregon State University.

Travis Ewen is a Senior Associate with the Stantec Landscape Architecture and Planning department. Travis grew up on an old dairy farm converted to a nursery. This has given him a deep appreciation for plants and natural systems. After graduating from UCONN with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Travis spent 18 years working in Boston before moving back to Connecticut. Over his career, he has worked on projects across a wide range of scale both close to home and around the world.

Dr. Yonghao Li, Ph.D. is a Plantt Pathologist for the Department of Plant Pathology & Ecology with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. Dr. Li has more than 30 years of experience in plant disease identification and developing disease management programs. Currently, he is a plant pathologist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station and in charge of the Plant Disease Information Office at the Station.

Mathew Bagshaw is the Vice President of Operations at E.A. Quinn Landscape Contracting LLC. Matthew started with the company in 2001. He now oversees the daily field operations for the company. He specializes in company logistics, daily planning, crew management and tracking as well as in oversight of the fleet manager/fleet management operation. Matthew also oversees several field managers that control their respective divisions. He works with those managers to help guide and coach them on both short- and longer-term goals in relation to production and implementation. He oversees the company safety and training programs as well.

Kyle Doolittle is an Estimator and Business Development Manager at E.A. Quinn Landscape Contracting LLC. Kyle provides relationship development and estimating/project management for the commercial install division of E.A. Quinn. In addition, Kyle oversees all the plant procurement company wide. Kyle started with the E.A. Quinn in 2014 with over 20 years in the business. Kyle attended Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA where he received his degree in Ornamental Horticulture specializing in Landscape Construction & Management. In addition, he also received his associates degree in business administration.
